Jolly Holiday Rejuvenation: Give the Gift of Youth

Few people enjoy spending hours in holiday traffic and crowded shopping malls. Fortunately, you can save yourself the time shopping around for that mystical “perfect gift”… a gift almost every adult would love… a more youthful face. The injectables Botox, Juvederm or Voluma et al, make an awesome gift. It’s no secret that more and more people want cosmetic treatments for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and winter holidays…and for everyday!

There’s still time if you act now, to get the treatment that’s right for you and to go into the Holiday’s with a more youthful, glowing appearance- minus the sagging, bagging and those unwelcome lines and wrinkles.

Who Would Like This Gift?
The real question is who wouldn’t want to rejuvenate squinty, tired looking eyes by banishing crow’s feet? Or who wouldn’t want to smooth out the wrinkles on the forehead and in between the eyes to take years off their appearance? At age 30  clients already see these signs of aging and would enjoy the benefits of smoother, fuller skin. A gift certificate to our office to choose any injectable treatment could also be a great gift for that close friend or family member who already “has everything.” Especially if they’ve expressed concern about wrinkles, such as crow’s feet or forehead. They may have even mentioned they’re open to trying a non invasive procedure or are already receiving Botox for their forehead, but would want to try a different area of the face, such as plumping the lips with Juvederm.

A Gift that’s Not Just for the Ladies
Even though it is more thought of as a gift for women, don’t discount those hard to shop for men in your life. Most women are very open to request Botox or Juvederm (and might even jump for joy at receiving this as a gift!), but so are men – even though they may not be as vocal about it.

Men feel the pressure to keep their competitive edge and looking good is part of that. Looking healthier, happier and more alert is a professional advantage. They might not be willing to go to the office and purchase a treatment for themselves, but deep down they are concerned about how their skin is aging. Receiving this as a gift can be just enough of a nudge to do what he’s seriously been thinking about.

Our non invasive treatments like Botox, Juvederm or Voluma offer fast results with no down time, which is very appealing to men. Juvederm can even be used to fill in the deepening folds around the nose, the indentations caused by acne scars of previous years and more…. and Brotox is Botox for Men…

Make Up Trends for 2016

The past year was filled with nude lips and scaled back lashes. The no make up look reigned supreme in 2015. But makeup lovers will be excited for 2016, as the trends have changed and the nude make up look is out. Bright bold red and sultry deep colored lips are en vogue. Create a flirty feminine look with bronze highlights to your cheeks and feminine pinks or peaches for the eyes.

Lovely Full Lips
More attention than ever will be brought to your lips this year. If you’re going to be on trend with the bright candy apple reds and sultry plum hues, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got full, luscious lips to show off. We can help you with Juvederm injections to proportionately plump and femininely fill your lips. These bright colors aren’t forgiving if you’ve over filled your lips, so go with clean lines and an expert injector, like myself, who knows how to create the perfect lips for a harmonious face.

Bronze Goddess
A bronze glow looks healthy and youthful. This bronzer trend can save your skin from sun damage. Use bronzer to get that sun kissed look instead of worshipping the sun, which results in sun spots and an older looking complexion. Also, you can give your cheeks a little help with a liquid facelift. Voluma expertly injected into the cheeks replaces lost volume so your cheek color and contour pops even more. It also results in a slight lift to the mid to lower face that can result in lightening the nasolabial folds and smile parenthesis lines.

Bright Eyes
In the spring you’ll be seeing lots of sunset hues of pink and peach. These flirty and feminine colors complement many skin tones and eye colors. You’ll also see bright blue eye shadows, liners and even mascaras that are playful and certainly can make a statement. If you’re attracting attention to your eyes with bold blues, you’ll want to be sure to smooth out crows feet. Since these wrinkles are cause by muscle movement, it’s best to first relax the muscles with Botox. Then if you want an even greater smoothing out of this area, you can add filler, such as Juvederm.

Makeup as Skincare
While you can’t replace good skincare, such as moisturizers, retinol and other powerful antioxidants, with makeup, I do encourage women to look at makeup as part of their skincare. Throughout the day, before it comes off at bedtime every night, it should be adding to the health of your skin, not taking away from it. This is why I recommend the Jane Iredale makeup line, especially to any of my patients who want to cover bruising or redness after procedures. Here are some highlights of this outstanding cosmetics line:
-uses the highest quality ingredients available to ensure satisfaction with performance, coverage, application and texture
-high performance mineral based formulas that don’t run, crease or smear
non comedogenic…does not block pores

-earned the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation, showing evidence that its products sufficiently and safely aid in the prevention of sun damage to the skin
-products are clinically and dermatologist tested for safety and allergies
-includes anti irritant, soothing ingredients to contribute to skin health
-uses a combination of natural preservatives, never parabens
-product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of animal testing
-no measurable amount of heavy metals in any product including lead and mercury

Being on trend with make up is great, but looking young and healthy is timeless. To schedule a consultation on how we can help you look your best in 2016, visit www.davinciplastic.com.

4 Tips for Looking Great in Photos

Everyone takes photos to capture holiday memories…so this is the time to put your best face forward and be “picture posing saavy” for socialite magazines and social media like Facebook and Instagram.  We are seen by hundreds, possibly thousands, of people on Social media venues.  To help you with this…a few tips from photography experts, as well as some of my own advice on how to look great in photos.

Be a picture posing pro… Tips to help you look great in photos:

A Perfect Pout… along with bright pearly whites you must have shiny lips or your smile won’t look as good as it could.  Also, thin lips can add years to perceived age and distort facial balance and harmony. But good news….You can get that plush pout with JUVEDERM. This HA injectable instantly increases lip volume… and in the hands of an Expert Injector, like myself, precise application achieves natural, sexy, supple lips you’ll  really want to show off.

Eyes Youthful and Bright… You’ve heard it said that you should smile with your eyes. Well this is true! And if you’ve got some crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles, you can take years off your eyes with a little BOTOX to smooth out those creases.  Your forehead is part of your “T zone” and often looks shiny in pictures. Remember to apply a light dusting of translucent powder to prevent that shine.

Do Away with the Double Chin…
One of the most common picture blunders is to accentuate the double chin. This unflattering profile can show up in photos even when you really don’t have a problem here. Voluma is great to restore volume and contour to the chin.  Then…you just need to use “slimming poses” such as tilting your head down and angling your chin a tiny bit.

One solution for accentuating your real chin would be to use injectables like VOLUMA to restore volume and contour to the chin area. You can also trick the camera into slimming down your face by slightly tilting your head down and angling your chin out just a little bit. This will give the perception of a sharper jaw line and higher cheekbones.

The Three “P’s” of Pictures: Position, Posture and Pose…
– Position yourself in the middle of a group photo. The people on the end always look bigger.
– Good posture makes you look thinner and your stomach flatter. Simply stand up straight, lengthen your neck, roll your shoulders back, and lift up your chest.

– Pose in a natural, slimming position by resting your weight on one leg. Rest your hand on the hip with shoulder and elbow pointed back or allow your hands to fall naturally at your side while slightly lifting your elbow back and away from your body. This prevents the illusion of a “fat arm” that happens when the arm is pressed against the body. This will prevent your hands from looking larger than normal.

-Follow these tips and look years younger in photos!  Call to schedule your appointment today! www.davinciplastic.com

Look Fabulous for the Holidays..Schedule Cosmetic Surgery Now

Schedule  Surgery Now … to be Ready for the Holiday’s

Our social calendars fill up quickly this time of year. Celebrating the holiday season is a fun, festive time, and you want to look great at each of these social appearances, right? If you’re considering cosmetic surgery, you’ll want to keep in mind the recovery time needed for healing. The priority is to be enjoying the holidays to the fullest and not worrying about any bruising or healing that could hold you back.

Here’s a guide on the recovery time, during which you’ll need to rest and/or take off work. It’s better to schedule a little more time than you’ll need and be pleasantly surprised if you recover faster.

Procedures that need at least…

1 week… Breast augmentation, reduction or lift, arm lift (brachioplasty), liposuction, male chest reduction (gynecomastia)           Couples are having surgery together...

2 weeks… brow/forehead lift, facelift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

3-4 weeks… tummy tuck, “mommy makeover,” body lift

The recovery time frame can be influenced by your health and habits. Having plastic surgery would be the perfect reason to stop smoking – at least 2 months prior to your surgery. Two weeks prior and after surgery, stop taking anything that enhances bleeding, such as aspirin, Motrin, Vitamin E and some herbs (I’ll provide a full list). You can also do some things before surgery to help recovery go smoothly and to ease your mind going in and coming out of your procedure.

BEFORE SURGERY… try to set up your household to be on autopilot, such as electronic bill paying and have lawn or pool maintenance prescheduled. Stock up on groceries, but also give yourself a break on cooking the first few days and have your favorite restaurant delivery menus handy. Ideally you’ll need to have someone stay with you, at least the first couple days post surgery. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

AFTER SURGERY

  • I know recovery isn’t fun, but think positive and surround yourself with people, music, movies, aromatherapy, etc. that will uplift your spirits.
  • Have some natural bruising recovery gel on hand, such as Arnica Montana and Bromelain…both can help reduce discoloration. Save rubbing Vitamin E on the incisions until after sutures are removed usually within 5-10 days post op.
  • Stay well hydrated (non-alcoholic beverages please) and well nourished with whole foods so your body has nutrients to repair itself. I know you’re going to want convenient and comfort foods, but try to keep greasy or processed foods to a minimum.
  • It’s perfectly fine to do a little moving around after a few days, but avoid all activities after surgery that increase your heart rate and blood pressure for 2 full weeks.
  • Allow yourself time to sleep. When your body is physically at rest it can focus more energy on repairing itself.
  • Follow instructions on caring for your dressings and drains. Call if you have any concerns.
  • Keep your follow up appointment with me (usually within a week) so that we can make sure you’re recovery is on track and I can answer any questions.

You still have time for cosmetic surgery before the holidays, but if surgery is not an option for you, then consider our non surgical options to rejuvenate your face, such as Botox, Juvederm/Voluma, Radiesse, Fat Transfer/Grafting. Visit www.davinciplastic.com to learn more.  Today’s Men and Women are having cosmetic procedures.  Couples show up in my office on a regular basis, requesting today’s most advanced anti aging treatments.  Baby Boomers and Millennialls are aging more youthfully…together!

Let’s get you looking your absolute best so you can look younger and more vibrant…everyday!
