7 Things to Know About Rhinoplasty

5 Minute Read:

Cosmetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty) continues to be the most performed cosmetic surgical procedure for men and women. This is because aesthetic frustrations with the nose can cause people to feel self-conscious and embarrassed about their appearance, and unlike other physical imperfections, there’s really no way to cover an unsightly nose with makeup or clothing.

Profile of a woman's nose against a gray background.

Whether your cosmetic concerns with your nose are genetic or biological (something you were born with) or result from trauma (a broken nose), corrective nose surgery can help you achieve the facial appearance you’ve always wanted.

However, there are some important details that are important to consider and understand before you go under the knife to achieve the nose of your dreams.

What Exactly Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is an invasive procedure that can help correct issues with the nose. The benefits of this procedure are both physical and psychological, as you can feel more comfortable and confident with the way you look. Rhinoplasty can help correct any number of nose concerns, including:

  • A crooked nose
  • A nose that is too large or small for the face
  • Nasal humps or bumps
  • An upturned or downturned nasal tip

What Should You Know About the Procedure?

1. Rhinoplasty Isn’t Just for Aesthetic Purposes

A common misconception that many people have is that they tend to think that a “nose job” can only correct cosmetic issues with the nose (some of which are noted above).

And while rhinoplasty is largely aesthetic in purpose, it can also help correct functional issues with the nose. A nose injury can greatly affect a person’s breathing ability. Rhinoplasty can help men and women who suffer from a deviated septum, as the structure of the nose can be adjusted to help patients breathe easier.

2. It Affects the Entire Face

Because the nose is located in the center of the face, its shape and size has an effect on the entire facial aesthetic. This is often the reason why many people choose to have a rhinoplasty procedure (their nose is negatively affecting the way their entire face looks). However, it is important to understand that changing the look of your nose may alter how you perceive the rest of your face.

3. Revision Surgery Is a Possibility

While your cosmetic surgeon will do everything possible to ensure a safe and successful procedure, there is always the possibility of healing irregularities that can negatively affect your results.

When this happens, rhinoplasty revision surgery can be performed to correct the irregular healing and make sure that you end up with the nasal appearance that you desire.

4. Not All Procedures Are the Same

Like many plastic surgery procedures, no two rhinoplasty procedures are the same. This is largely because no two patients are the same.

Each patient has a unique and specific cosmetic issue that they want to address (while some patients want a smaller nose, others may desire a larger nose, etc.). Additionally, rhinoplasty differs from some other procedures in that there are multiple procedure techniques that can be used.

Corrective nose surgery can be performed through an open rhinoplasty technique or a closed rhinoplasty technique.

With open rhinoplasty, the incision is made on the strip of skin between the nostrils (the columella) to allow your cosmetic surgeon more visibility during the procedure.

With a closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are made within the nostrils, which conceals resulting scars. The specific technique used will be chosen by your cosmetic surgeon and is dependent on the type of correction you are having done.

5. Your Nose Is Specific to You

Many patients look at other people’s noses (whether it be celebrities, family, or friends) and want to replicate that same nasal appearance for themselves. However, no two noses are the same.

The nose shape and size that works for one person does not always (and, in fact, rarely) works for another. That is why your consultation is so important. Your cosmetic surgeon will have the chance to help you decide which nose aesthetic best compliments the rest of your facial features.

6. Choosing the Right Surgeon Is Crucial

Nose surgery is a complicated procedure that should be performed by a cosmetic surgeon who has the experience, knowledge, and ability to give you the results you deserve. You don’t want just anybody operating on your nose (especially because, as we’ve discussed above, your nose affects the entire look of your face).

It is important that you do some research and find a plastic surgeon that you feel comfortable with. Dr. Steven P. Davison and the professionals at DAVinci Plastic Surgery are dedicated to their patients, making sure to put their patients’ health and the quality of results at the forefront of everything they do.

7. Your Consultation Is So Important

Like any plastic surgery or cosmetic treatment, your rhinoplasty consultation is the first and most important step in achieving your aesthetic goals. Not only will you be able to share your cosmetic concerns and desires with your surgeon, but your surgeon will have the opportunity to examine your nose to decide which specific techniques are required to help you look your absolute best.

While many people are nervous about plastic surgery, your consultation is a chance to meet your cosmetic surgeon and have all your questions about plastic surgery answered.

Why Do People Undergo Rhinoplasty?

2 Minute Read:

When people think of nose surgery, they often think of it as a strictly cosmetic procedure. While aesthetic concerns are still the primary driving force behind rhinoplasty (as it can significantly improve the appearance of the nose and increase confidence levels), it is far from the only reason.

Rhinoplasty surgery is also performed to correct poor nasal function and fix a nose after severe injury.

Surgeon marking woman's nose, wearing a green surgical glove.

What Are the Three Main Reasons Patients Undergo Nose Surgery?

1. To Improve Nasal Aesthetics

Rhinoplasty can improve the nose’s appearance, which in many cases will improve the patient’s life. Some people are born with very large or odd-shaped noses, and rhinoplasty can help to increase confidence and self-esteem.

People who have been bullied in the past due to the shape or size of their noses often report greater confidence and feelings of well-being after having rhinoplasty.

Some common aesthetic nasal concerns include:
  • Large bumps or humps
  • Wide nasal bridges
  • Crooked noses
  • Flared nostrils
  • Upturned or downturned nasal tips

2. To Improve Nasal Functionality

Rhinoplasty surgery is often used to correct poor nasal function. Many people who opt for the operation have trouble breathing through their nose (often due to a deviated septum), and making minor changes to the nose can help.

An uncorrected deviated septum can lead to:
  • Troubles sleeping
  • Heavy breathing
  • Headaches
  • Snoring
  • Sinus congestion
  • Frequent nosebleeds

3. To Correct a Severe Injury

Nose surgery can also be used to fix a nose after a severe injury. Patients who play sports or have had an accident or injury resulting in a broken nose may need rhinoplasty.

After a nose has been broken, the bones may join together, leaving a lump. Not correcting a broken nose may also cause difficulty breathing, infections, and perforations (holes) in the nasal septum.

Living with the after-effects of nasal trauma can be challenging, and rhinoplasty can help to improve the patient’s quality of life.

What Is the Difference Between Rhinoplasty and Septorhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure used to repair and reshape the external nasal structure. The surgery varies depending on the patient’s needs and can change the nasal shape and functionality.

Septorhinoplasty is a procedure that repairs/adjusts the nasal septum but does not necessarily adjust the look of the nose.

In general, rhinoplasty surgery takes longer to complete, and the patient will also have a slightly more extended recovery period than with septorhinoplasty.

If you are unsure whether you need rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty, you can contact DAVinci Plastic Surgery to discuss your options.

How to Properly Recover After Rhinoplasty

3 Minute Read:

The nose is the focal point of the face and is often one of the first things people notice. Rhinoplasty surgery can give patients unhappy with their nasal contour the confidence to achieve anything. However, a successful recovery is necessary to obtain ideal results.

Woman recovering from rhinoplasty while wearing bandages on her nose.

Since the nose is difficult, if not impossible, to conceal, it is important to accept that changes will need to be made; however, if you follow these five easy steps, you will be on your way to a successful rhinoplasty recovery.

1. Rest

One of the most important aspects of a successful recovery is a significant amount of rest. When you undergo plastic surgery, your body goes through a lot (even if your surgery was localized to your nose).

Your body will also use a large amount of energy to heal. It is important to relax in order to gain the energy your body needs to heal and recover properly.

Resting can mean many different things. It can mean getting extra sleep, but it can also mean taking a break from normal daily activities that require energy, such as cleaning, driving, and taking care of your kids. Think of your rhinoplasty recovery as an opportunity to catch up on some well-deserved relaxation.

2. Keep Your Head Elevated

While recovering from rhinoplasty surgery, it is crucial to rest and sleep with your head elevated. This will not only increase comfort, but it will also help minimize bruising and swelling. Elevating your head promotes circulation and reduces fluid buildup.

Unfortunately, your head may fall without you realizing it when you are sleeping. This is why it is important to prop your head up with pillows. Also, if you sleep with a partner, ask them to wake you up if they notice your head is no longer elevated.

3. Wear Your Splint and Bandages

After your surgery, your nose will be bandaged and held in place with a splint. It is important to leave the nose protected for several days. The splint will keep your cartilage and bone in place while they heal. The splint will also help you remember not to touch your nose and prevent any accidental trauma, which will negatively affect the healing process.

4. Use Ice

Icing your face after rhinoplasty surgery can help reduce swelling around the eyes and promote proper healing. It is important to apply ice several times a day, for around 20 minutes each time, for maximum effects.

5. Follow all Post-Operative Instructions

In addition to all of these tips, you will be given instructions on how to properly recover from rhinoplasty. It is important to follow all instructions given to you by your surgeon to ensure proper healing. Feel free to contact your surgeon at any time during your recovery if you have any questions or concerns.

Top “Tweakment” 2019: Non Surgical Rhinoplasty

“Non surgical nose jobs” have been popping up more and more on Instagram over the last year. As awareness and interest increases, the amount of people asking for this procedure, formally called Non Surgical Rhinoplasty, is bound to increase simultaneously. It is positioned to be one of the top “tweakments” of 2019.

What is a “tweakment”?

A tweakment is an adjustment to your looks to align it with your ideal self. It’s not a complete change of who you are or what you look like, but a small change to enhance your existing features. Tweakments are usually less invasive procedures (though sometimes still surgical) and don’t involve as much recovery or downtime. These usually are performed to help your actual appearance line up with the filtered, photoshopped self on social media.

What is Non Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular surgeries because the nose is a flagship feature of the face. When the nose is put into facial harmony, it offers one of the most greatly satisfying results. The change can be quite drastic to one’s appearance, but it usually what is desired. On the other hand, the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty is a quicker, no downtime route to achieving your preferred nose. It uses injectables to achieve the desired small changes, so there is no sedation or recovery time. With topical numbing and extremely precise injections over the course of a lunch break, you’re on your way.

What can Non Surgical Rhinoplasty do?

The injectables fill in curves and bumps, adjust the shape of the tip, and increase the hight of the bridge, which minimizes the appearance of width. Even though hyaluronic acid filler is adding volume, the precisely placed injections can actually make your nose look smaller and straighter.

Who is not a candidate?

Someone who has already had Rhinoplasty or a nose break, may not be a candidate depending on the fragility of the nose blood vessels. Also, if the desired adjustment to the bump or width of the nose is just too drastic, traditional Rhinoplasty would be needed to achieve desired results.

Any downsides?

As with any injectable treatment, there are risks and the results are temporary. Results usually last around a year, give or take, depending on the filler used. Also, if price is a factor then, Rhinoplasty is more cost effective in the long run due to the temporary nature of the fillers. However, some people are willing to incur the cost in order to avoid surgery.

Using injectables for Non Surgical Rhinoplasty is called an “off label” use of the hyaluronic fillers, so this use of them hasn’t been endorsed by the FDA and comes with health risks. For safety reasons, treatments should only address concerns along the bridge of the nose and only be done by expert injectors familiar with nasal anatomy. This ensures that any blood flow is not inadvertently blocked, which can have severe negative affects to the eyes and surrounding skin.

Refining the nose is the one of the most harmonizing effects for refreshing the face. If you feel like your nose is our of balance with your facial symmetry, and you’re deciding if Rhinoplasty or Non Surgical Rhinoplasty is for you, let’s talk it over. 2019 Trend: The “Tweakment”

This new word “tweakment” is being thrown around in fashion magazines a lot so far this year. With this being one of the biggest 2019 trends, I thought I’d spend a little time on it with you.

So what is a “tweakment?” It’s a play on the words “tweak” and “treatment.” Generally it encompasses a variety of surgical and non surgical procedures that are seemingly small “tweaks” to your appearance. You still look like yourself, but with an ever so subtle enhancement.

Previously, the way most people would communicate to me what features they wanted to accomplish through plastic surgery or non invasive treatments, would be to bring celebrity photos. They’d say “I want her lips” or “I want her nose” or “I want his chin,” etc.

Now, with the smart phone photo editing technology in the palms of our hands, we can enhance the existing features to be more appealing, at least in the cyber sense. We still look like ourselves, but with youthful, symmetric features. Now a days, the way many people are showing me what they want to look like by using these filtered photos of themselves. They want this to not just be a virtual reality on social media, but how they actually look.

This “tweakment” trend is coming from a mindset of people wanting to continue to look like themselves with a little more refinement to their features. Tweakments offer a confidence boost in our appearance, but are minor enough that they aren’t obvious to everyone else. So what are some examples of “tweakments?”

One of the most “up and coming” of the tweakments is the “non surgical nose job.” Rhinoplasty is one of the most requested of plastic surgeries, however, over the last few years more and more people are wanting non surgical alternatives for the more minor tweaks. For these cases, the fillers offer some people with a temporary yet incredibly satisfying change

Another popular “tweakment” that is expected to be the most popular one of 2019 is the Mini Facelift. While everyone wants the results, the recovery for a full Facelift can be daunting for some people. The ones who have exhausted the benefits of the Filler Facelift and aren’t in need of the dramatically rejuvenating results of a full Facelift can turn to the Mini Facelift for help. This less intense surgical option gives the face a refresher that should only require a weekend of recovery.

So have “tweakments” gotten your attention? I’ll cover more about the non surgical nose job and the Mini Facelift in following blogs. If you’re ready to talk about what a “tweakment” can do for you, please visit www.davinciplastic.com to schedule a consultation.

Cosmetic Surgery Recovery Times

In the hands of a triple board certified surgeon like myself, you know you’re giving yourself the best chance possible for wonderful cosmetic surgery results. Learn more about my triple board certification and credentials here. As much as I can do a fantastic surgery for you, what happens after the surgery room is up to you and your body.

In addition to following our post operative care instructions, you can give yourself the best chance possible for healing properly by allowing for enough recovery time and taking these measures:

  • Rest and relax (binge watch a new show on Netflix)
  • Don’t lift anything beyond prescribed weight limits
  • Take time off from work
  • Enlist someone to help you with physical tasks and emotional support
  • Eat well, including healthy fats from avocados and salmon
  • Drink a lot of water

So what does allowing for enough recovery time look like? Here is a break down by the most popular surgeries, so that you can start planning for the ideal time in your schedule. First we will start with the face and then the next blog will cover the recovery for the most popular body procedures.

Rhinoplasty
Remaining upright, on pain meds, and out of sight for at least a week will be your post surgery recovery for Rhinoplasty. Except for the necessary post op visits to remove your packing and splint, you’ll want to take it real easy. There will be significant bruising and swelling around the eyes and midface for at least a week. While you’ll likely feel able move around by the end of the week, you’ll probably want to plan to stay out of work, order take out and delivery groceries for 1 to 2 weeks. Swelling and bruising will settle down by a month, but depending on the degree of nose alteration, it could be up to a year until things look and feel like the new normal.

Facelift
Your first 1 to 2 nights should be spent with someone to help you. While you should definitely be resting, you can get up to walk around to help with blood circulation for healing. The swelling and stitches along your hairline will require you to take 2 to 3 weeks off of work. After that you can cover most of it with styling your hair and makeup while you continue to recover for the rest of the month. You will probably look a little swollen or tight for a few months, but the final results of healing should be complete within a year.

Jaw and Neck Liposuction
For a facial procedure, this has a relatively quick recovery time. It’s normal to have bruising and need to wear a compression chin strap for a week. Bruising often travels down the lower neck and even into the upper chest. Sutures are removed within 3 to 5 days and the scar under the chin isn’t ever visible in a normal profile view. Any muscle weakness affecting the lips should subside in 2 weeks. You should be happy with the swelling usually resolved by 3 months.

Plan Your Procedures

While you may initially come into my office to address an immediate beauty need, we will take the time in our consultation to talk about your long term beauty goals and to help you with a plan. This plan may start off with some non invasive treatments, such as a Liquid Facelift using a variety of injectables to touch up and rejuvenate some crows feet, furrowed brows or mouth parenthesis creases. Then it might build into a 5 to 10 year plan for a mini facelift to address slightly sagging jowls and neck or Blepharoplasty to open up drooping eyelids for a brighter, more rested looking eye area. Either way, this plan should not only focus on immediate needs, but incorporate treatments for future youth restoration goals and maintenance.

Cosmetic surgery and non invasive treatments can easily be performed all year long, however, there are certain times of year that lend themselves to easily incorporate the rest and recovery that make it more convenient. Also, there are also certain issues you may want to address before a special event (think: high school reunion or holiday party) or time of year (think: bikini season).

Here is a seasonal surgery guide with suggestions for planning your procedure:

Fall

After the activity of summer and before the flurry of winter festivities, the fall season offers a perfect break in the social calendar for most people. This means that recovery time away is easy to schedule. Also, the cooler weather means clothes with more coverage and comfort. After getting any kids and grandkids settled into school, the scheduled routine or empty nest would allow for effortless predictability and rest for scheduling a surgery. It also will allow plenty of healing time for you to approach the holidays recovered and looking great. This is a good time for anything from Liposuction, Blepharoplasty, Facelift to Breast Augmentation. Fall is my first choice for cosmetic procedures.

Winter

This season offers some good opportunities for cosmetic surgeries. Before the new year, the injectables are the best because you can’t afford downtime between Thanksgiving and New Years, but January is the perfect month to kick off the New Year with a big step towards your beauty and healthy body goals. Winter scarves and turtlenecks easily cover the bruising or swelling from Kybella or a Facelift. Also the bulkier clothes will conceal any over night changes to the body from a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction. The Martin Luther King and Presidents Day holidays allow for long weekends and time off work without the usual holiday social schedule.

Spring

These are the months to rejuvenate and refresh yourself along with the start of a new season, and to prepare for the summer season. Body image procedures such as Liposuction, Brazilian Butt Lift, and Breast Augmentation are popular this time of year. Also, by this time, some of the results from New Years resolutions for weight loss have a chance to kick in and become a habit so that body contouring can have optimal results.

Summer

Surgery can be a success in the summer, but it’s crucial to stay out of the sun. The heat and sweat can be irritating during recovery. It’s always a great time for injectables like Botox, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra since these injectables are in and out so you’re on your way to looking fabulous for your vacation. Another fabulous non invasive, body contouring rpocedure to trim away small puches of stubborn fat is SculpSure. Popular summer break surgical procedures are Rhinoplasty and Otoplasty between the school years.

Let me help you make your procedure plan for your ideal image by scheduling a consultation today at www.davinciplastic.com.

The Perfect Profile

Since I addressed the youthful contour of the neck the past two weeks, I thought we’d work our way up to the chin and the important role it plays in attaining the “perfect profile.” Generally speaking, our society appreciates different features in men and women, but an aesthetic profile… regardless of gender… is harmonious and balanced.

These profile characteristics are popular among Americans:
• Upper face: a forehead that isn’t entirely round, flat or elongated, and a browbone structure that isn’t overbearing
• Mid face: straight nose with some concavity to it, not too long, wide or bulbous
• Lower face: full lip projection, well defined chin, neck and jaw line

MAKING THE CASE FOR THE CHIN … It is the framework and support system for the entire face. Too weak or strong of a framework can distort the rest of the facial structure, throwing off the balance and proportion. For example, a chin that is too small or recessed can make the nose look too big, or on the other hand, a chin that is too prominent can draw too much attention and be unbalanced with the rest of the facial features.

BRINGING PROFILE BALANCE WITH THE CHIN…Usually the chin is a feature that men are known for, and is therefore attributed as a masculine focused feature. But the lack of a chin can even throw off the harmony in a feminine profile and can increase an aging appearance caused by that lack of definition between the face and neck.

HOW THE CHIN AGES…Most people first notice the signs of aging in the upper face, such as wrinkles on the forehead and around their eyes. But, even though they may be more subtle in some people, the signs of aging don’t skip over the lower face. With age, the chin begins to look different:
• sagging skin, volume loss from the mid face and upper jaw ends up hanging from the lower jaw
• fat and sagging skin accumulation under the chin
• bone loss in the chin and jaw

One solution for mild repair would be use of injectables to restore volume and contour to the chin area. Another option could be chin augmentation surgery.

CHIN IMPLANTS FOR RESTORING FACIAL BALANCE… This is one of the most popular options to restore facial balance and a youthful, natural appearance. Chin implants are a safe and effective surgical modification that can be tailored to your unique facial needs. It can also be combined with other surgeries, such as a Facelift, Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) or Nose Reshaping.

CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY, SAFE AND QUICK… Of all the facial plastic surgeries, this is one of the fastest to perform, and for my patients, a quick recovery. Chin implants are made from a variety of materials and come in various shapes and sizes. This allows for custom tailoring in order to create your perfect profile!

Hot Cosmetic Procedures for 2015!

COSMETIC and PLASTIC SURGERY TRENDS FOR 2015  Couples are having surgery together...

Some of the hottest procedures of 2014 will continue to grow this year, but there are some new predictions about what will be “in” for 2015. Last year buttock augmentation and neck rejuvenation showed some of the greatest increases. So what is in store for this year? Read on to learn about the trends for 2015.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM… Increasing over 50% in previous years, the popularity of the buttock augmentation will continue to grow. The safest way to improve shape and volume with a buttocks augmentation is from using your own excess body fat. Fat grafting is rising in popularity, but it’s very important to choose a surgeon such as myself, who understands the art of body sculpting and has the surgical skill to achieve each individual’s desired result.

Also, the neck lift and neck liposuction will continue to grow, as people realize that no matter how smooth and wrinkle free the face is, a droopy neck and jowl is a sure tell tale sign of age. Depending on the specific concern about the neck, there are a variety of techniques to smooth, lift and thin out this area and restore a youthful, elegant neck profile.

MORE FOR MEN… Men aren’t missing out on the opportunities that come from looking young and healthy. They are looking for more kinds of procedures ranging from non invasive to plastic surgery. Gynecomastia (male breast reduction) has risen as have facial procedures. Men tend to prefer “in and out” procedures that don’t keep them from productivity, especially line smoothing injectables like Botox, so much that Botox for men has been nicknamed “Brotox.”

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE MOMS… After sacrificing their body to grow and nurse the miracle of a baby, moms deserve to feel good about themselves. This has led to an increase in Mommy Makeover procedures to help them return to their pre pregnancy body. Mommy Makeovers can restore confidence, the feeling of body normalcy and beauty. This can mean different things for everyone, but usually includes a combination of procedures like a tummy tuck to tighten the stretched out abdomen muscles, liposuction to address baby weight that just won’t go away, and breast augmentation to create a more harmonious upper body.

FILLING IN THE FACE…The effect of volume loss on an aging face is becoming more and more understood by the general population. Facial contouring to restore volume can make a subtle yet significant difference in the youthful appearance. Fillers like Voluma XC are perfect for cheek augmentation that can provide a slight lift to the entire face, even decreasing the appearance of marionette lines.

LUSCIOUS LIPS… This popular treatment will likely remain a top request for 2015. Although, the trend is changing so that more and more requests are for a natural looking fullness rather than the over filled lumpy lips of years past. This more natural lip look can be achieved with (lip augmentation) involving the judicious injection of hyaluronic acid fillers like JuvedermDo this now to look fabulous for Valentine’s Day.

What will your new look be in this new year? If you’d like to discuss any of these popular procedures for 2015 or another more personalized need, please schedule a consultation with me. Visit www.davinciplastic.com.

Celebrities, Careers, Body Sculpting and the Lipstick Effect

shutterstock_54896854Body Sculpting is so popular among today’s Boomers, GenXer’s and Millennials.  Social media plays a leading role in driving patients of all ages into surgeon’s offices for invasive and non invasive procedures to sculpt and refine the body of their dreams.  Social Media, FaceBook being a primary source, has proven to dramatically influence people of all ages and from all income levels to have FaceLifts, Chin Augmentations, Nose Jobs, Eyelid/Forehead Lifts, Breast procedures, Arm Lifts, Tummy Tucks…and many more.  See my previous blogs on Body Sculpting for details on what’s involved in Body Refinement and Contouring.

Looking Good on Facebook Spikes a Rise in Plastic Surgery Requests:  Social media is about seeing and being seen. A survey of 752 surgeons revealed a 31% increase in plastic surgery requests from people wanting to look better on Social Media.  Procedures most requested were:  Botox, Rhinoplasty, FaceLifts, ArmLifts (Brachiaplasty) and Breast Augmentation.

shutterstock_88823152-1EXECUTIVES, CAREERS and PLASTIC SURGERY PROCEDURES…We live in a very visual world today and this affects even careers.  A colleague of mine, from Manhattan, sees a lot of men and women executives and high profile individuals who are in the public eye constantly.  Their pictures are taken constantly…and they are expected to always look good!  YouTube, Facebook, HD Television and public appearances demand they look their absolute best.  These people previously focused mainly on the face…but now are into Body Sculpting as well. They get paid more to look great!

CELEBRITIES CHOICES INFLUENCE US!  We learned from the “Celebs” how to defy aging by employing anti aging treatments. The key is to start early (at the first sign of tiny facial lines, etc.) and to always maintain in order to always look about 10 years younger.  A few of today’s celebrities have heavily influenced how people want to look.

·      Kate Middleton’s Nose is the nose of choice among the World’s female population

·      Cheryl Cole’s Dimples…well those are hard to copy

·      Robert Pattison’s jaw is the envy of scores of men

·      Brit Jude Law has the most requested nose for men

·      First Lady Michelle Obama has the most admired arms causing a spike in requests for Upper Arm Lifts (Brachiaplasty)

·      And the list goes on………….

SCULPTED BODIES and the LIPSTICK EFFECT…The economy today has also driven people in for cosmetic procedures.  We have developed a “collective vanity” per some analysts, but not  according to the younger generations today who consider looking good to be important to overall good health.  In fact,  they budget for cosmetic procedures as part of their health regimen. So they come for FaceLifts and Body Sculpting regularly.  Those who cannot afford those options choose less expensive anti aging treatments such as Botox, Injectable Fillers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and others to reduce the visuals of aging.  This is called the “Lipstick Effect.”  We cut back on big ticket spending and opt for the “injection effect” to stave off surgery a bit longer and to allow the economy to improve.  We also indulge a bit and buy that cologne, perfume or special lipstick we’ve been wanting!

MOST POPULAR BODY CONTOURING/REFINING OPTIONS: Liposuction, Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), Lower Body Lift, Mommy Makeover, Daddy DoOver, Thigh Lift, Cellulite Treatments, Buttock Augmentation, Rhinoplasty (Nose Jobs) FaceLifts, Brest Augmentation, Breast Reduction, Breast Lift, Labiaplasty (FemGen for V Zone Rejuvenation)…and more.  See my website: www.davinciplastic.com.

Well, Winter is still blasting away…but Spring will come!  Are you ready for all the events?  Bikini…Beach Season will be here soon.

Ultimate AntiAging Road Map

shutterstock_54370510Men and women of all ages have a myriad of age reversing, rejuvenating options from which to choose.  Each option offers its own unique benefits.  Choosing the right one or combination of options involves figuring out what’s best for your needs and not someone elses.  No “cookie cutter” treatments offered here. MEN ARE GETTING TREATMENTS NEARLY AS OFTEN AS WOMENNO MORE TABOOS! Careers demand it and Generation X chooses to include cosmetic procedures as part of their normal health maintenance regimen because they want it.

AREAS of FACIAL AGING… THE EYES show signs of aging early.  These signs include: lines, wrinkles, furrows, hollows, severe under eye bags, sagging upper eyelids, forehead parenthesis and furrows and skin that is losing elasticity (crepey looking).

Treatment Options include:  Injectable fillers for volume replacement, to encourage collagen renewal and restore contours; Botox to stop lines and wrinkles from forming and to smooth out the skin, Blepharoplasty and Browlift surgery to correct both the upper and lower eyelids by removing excess skin, excess fatty deposits, to lift brows back up and restore youthfulness to the forehead and brow/eyes.

Blepharoplasty surgery corrects severely drooping brows and hooding of the upper eyelids. When fillers and Botox no longer work or treatments are started too late, Eyelid surgery is the best option, especially if excess skin is undermining your vision. In this case, it is done for “functional” purposes as well as cosmetic restoration.  Men, especially, seek out eye surgeries to correct these problems, to look and feel younger and healthier.

CHEEKS OFTEN BECOME FLAT, SUNKEN and SAGGY – CHEEK AUGMENTATION is among today’s most popular age reversing options.  For flat, sunken cheeks both hyaluronic fillers and collagen stimulating fillers can add dimension and nice definition.  Augmenting the cheeks improves the appearance of the eyes by addressing volume loss.   Often fillers work and if not cheek implants will. Sagging cheeks require surgical lifting and tightening of the underlying muscle and tissue and is often coupled with  injectables for ultimate and long lasting results.

INJECTABLE FILLERS and SURGERY   Injectable fillers usually offer immediate and ongoing results as collage production is stimulated and hyaluronic acid fillers replace volume by attracting water.  Surgery results can be subtle or dramatic and last indefinitely.

NOSE and RHINOPLASTY SURGERY vs FILLERS   Injectables can correct certain nasal deformities and small irregularities. For example, we can add height to make a hump less noticeable. A good looking nose improves the facial profile allowing certain features to pop out more.  Surgery is needed when there are functional issues and flaws that fillers can’t handle. Injectables are amazing, but are not curealls.  https://www.davinciplastic.com.

NOSE FLAWS MEN WANT CORRECTED include a deviated septum, bulbous nose tips, crooked noses from being broken, pitted and scarred areas, humps and bumps from injuries or birth and others. Functional correction is key with men.  They don’t like noses that don’t work right.  So, I do many Rhinoplasty surgeries and non surgical nose jobs also.

Guys and Gals Nose Makeovers…by Dr. Steven Davison

Long Lasting Facial Makeovers…Nose Jobs

Well, I’ve been getting you up to speed on long lasting Facial Makeovers, using techniques that effectively remove 10 years from your face, and keep you looking years younger always.  Today, we look at the importance of the nose and how aging affects it and…facial balance.  Nose jobs (Rhinoplasty) is one of the most elegant surgeries performed and can dramatically restore youthfulness, symmetry and balance to any aging face.

Why Rhinoplasty?  Each year hundreds of thousands of men and women decide to have their noses reshaped, repaired and done over for a host of reasons including: injuries that caused a deformed nose and hindered normal nasal function and/or left the nose misshapen (Deviated Septum) etc. Noses change with aging causing a droopy tip or bulbous tip, there may be humps and bumps or “ski slope” appearance; the nose may be too wide, to narrow, too weak and much more.  All these and other concerns  about form and function affect overall facial appearance and often…self esteem suffers.

Facial Balance & the Nose…When the nose is a problem (see above) it usually affects facial balance and symmetry…which is crucial to looking young.  Also, an out of balance nose can highlight a weak chin or other facial defects.  Bringing the nose into correct balance and proportion for your face is done by correcting size, shape and position.

The nose is the most defining characteristic on the face…for this reason nearly one million Americans have nose jobs every year.

Benefits of Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty) include:

  • To create or restore function
  • Give you the nose you’ve always wanted and never had
  • Change the size, shape & position of the nose
  • Create a more youthful overall facial appearance
  • Achieve a harmonious blend with your other facial features
  • Can be combined with other facial procedures to optimize your results
Rhinoplasty is one of today’s most popular long lasting facial makeover options. It is one of the many age defying solutions people choose to take years off their face now…and to keep looking years younger always!
It is a safe, effective and often the only way to get the outcomes people really want.  I perform it to restore function and to create aesthetic beauty and youthfulness.  For more information about the procedure and how it’s done see: www.davinciplastic.com and look at the page on Rhinoplasty.
Revision Rhinoplasty…is nose surgery done to correct or make changes from a previous nose surgery.  I am specially trained and skilled in revision/restorative surgeries and combined with my superb knowledge of the complex nose and facial structure, along with honed skills and years of experience…I get results that my patients love wearing.
Well,  men and women and “couples” are showing up in aesthetic clinics around the world to take advantage of today’s many advancements in cosmetic procedures…and to safely and effectively combat aging.  We cannot stop the clock…but we can and are doing a terrific job of holding at bay the visible signs of aging and keeping millions of people looking as young as they feel.
Come on in and let’s get to work!
