Hot Lips You’ll Love

Plush pouts are all the rage and especially on people’s minds this month because of Valentine’s Day. While flowers, chocolates, pink hearts, and wine are sweet… hot lips make all of that even sweeter. Celebrities Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Kylie Jenner give lips a front and center perspective on how sexy and youthful they can make you look. This is the perfect time for showing them some TLC and rejuvenating your lips with a filler, such as Juvederm.

Pamper Your Pout
The harsh cold, windy and dry climate this time of year can really take its toll on your lips make them very uncomfortable. Other factors that destroy your lips include smoking, dehydration, sun damage, and poor skin care. Take some time this month to show your lips some TLC with a lip exfoliation and hydrating mask…which can easily be done at home. Also, be sure to drink sufficient water, which helps every aspect of your skin and body. Along with Juvederm, which can give you the nicely shaped, soft, naturally gorgeous lips you’ll love.

The Perfect Pout is About Softness and Proportion
Women feel confident and sexy with a bold hue of lipstick on soft, full lips. That doesn’t mean the lips should look over filled, bumpy or out of balance with the rest of the facial features.

There is an art to creating beautiful lips with certain characteristics:

– the center of the lip is slightly more full

-the “Cupid’s bow” top of the lip isn’t over-filled (so that it disappears)

– the lower lip should be about twice the size of the upper lip to avoid the appearance of unnatural looking “duck lips.”

Making sure you choose an Expert Injector, such as myself, who knows how to create these features is the only way to be confident you can achieve your perfect pout.

Lovely Lips with Juvederm
In the hands of an Expert Injector you will have soft, luscious lips. That sexy boost of fullness with Juvederm is the perfect way to have kissable lips for Valentine’s Day and beyond. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable, which naturally creates fuller, plumper lips because the hyaluronic acid attracts water to the area. It is FDA approved for safety and has a smooth texture, so this is a top pick for lip contouring because it keeps your lips feeling flexible and natural. It is a safe, natural way to create a perfectly plush pout that will last 4 to 6 month.

Let us help you have “hot lips” you will love for Valentine’s Day and beyond. Visit www.davinciplastic.com to schedule your appointment with an Expert Injector today.

Your Surgeons Credentials Do Matter!

While on the topic of FaceLift surgeries, let me emphasize the importance of having a very experienced surgeon to handle this, delicate, complicated procedure. Thus, I decided to share my credentials… and those that you should look for in other surgeons. I will do this through 3 main criteria upon which surgeons are judged: training, qualifications and results.

TRAINING… QUALITY EDUCATION AND INSTITUTIONS
I’ve always wanted to provide the highest quality care to my patients, so I adhere to the highest standards beginning with my studies. My distinctions in undergraduate years studying Dentistry, include the Dell Medal for Performance and The British Student of the Year award from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.  As I went on to earn my medical degree from the University of Maryland, I also was selected from among my peers to receive the Babcock Award for surgical excellence. Next in my studies was to specialize in head and neck/otolaryngology at the world renown Mayo Clinic. For my final years of hands on experience, I was selected to do my plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, which has one of the most comprehensive plastic surgery programs, and then completed a reconstructive cancer fellowship at the premier cancer hospital in the country, MD Anderson in Texas.

BOARD CERTIFICATION
Another factor that elevates my standing as a plastic surgeon is that I am triple board certified in a rare yet extremely applicable combination: plastic surgery, otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, and facial plastic surgery (which I earned the Jack Webster prize for the highest score).  I am the only such surgeon in the tri-state area and one of only a handful in the United States with this level of triple board certification.

It is important to note that the board certifications I’ve earned are accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which has the highest standards. With ABMS certifications you can be assured that the doctor has:
1. graduated from an accredited medical school

2. completed at least 5 years of additional training as a resident surgeon in a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Medical Education or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

3. passed comprehensive written and oral exams

RESULTS…PEER AND PATIENT REVIEW
I believe in staying on the cutting edge of my field. As a result have given well over 95 national and international lectures, and written more than 100 clinical papers. Some of my greatest acknowledgements have been from my peers and patients, as I’ve been:
…nominated in the Washingtonian for both “Best Doctor” in plastic surgery AND breast reconstruction (by my peers)
…currently rated Castle Connolly best surgeon and an “America’s Top Surgeon”
…selected as “The Best Plastic Surgeon” of DC and “Number One Doctor” for many years in a row (by patients)

My biggest reward and compliment is a satisfied patient. To find out more of my credentials and to schedule a consultation, please visit www.davinciplastic.com.

Getting it right: REVISION RHINOPLASTY

Very few surgeons are truly qualified to perform the complicated procedure of Revision Rhinoplasty. Revision or Secondary Rhinoplasty is a correction, whether functional or aesthetic, to the unsatisfactory results of a previous Rhinoplasty (Nose) surgery.

WHEN TO GO FOR THE REVISION… Typically, the recommendation is to wait a year after the original Rhinoplasty so that there is ample time for healing and the nose to “settle” into its new anatomy. There can be a shorter duration to this recovery time depending on the extent of the previous surgery, which can be discussed during the consultation.

Although the decision should not be made lightly, you should consider a revision if you have any of these issues:

  • persistent breathing problems
  • nose still too large
  • still a bump in the bridge
  • new nose not in balance with the rest of the face
  • too much removed
  • tip of your nose needs better refinement
  • tip is deflected off to one side (“twisted tip”)

WHY IS REVISION RHINOPLASTY MORE COMPLICATED?

  • Changes to the typical anatomy and geography of the nose due to cartilage removal during the first surgery
  • There may not be enough cartilage in the nose to work with and it has to be borrowed from behind the ear, which also requires extra incisions
  • Navigating the scar tissue in the nasal lining from the primary surgery
  • There is a higher risk of developing little spider veins in the nose called telangectasias
  • All of these issues increase the variables and the amount of time in surgery

SURGICAL EXPERIENCE IS CRUCIAL… It is possible that the problem resulting from the original Rhinoplasty may not be the fault of the original surgeon. Anatomical variations and the healing process aren’t under their control. Although, the actual surgery is under the surgeon’s control, which is why you need the most experience surgical hands for the best possible outcome. This is especially true with navigating the altered anatomy and scar tissue present during a revision Rhinoplasty. It requires not only skill, but an artful eye, as well.

CHOOSE A SURGEON WHO:

  • IS Qualified with expert training (I’m triple board certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery, Facial plastic & General plastic surgery)
  • Has many years of experience with many surgeries (almost 2 decades of surgical experience)
  • Does them regularly – Our patients come from across the country to have revision rhinoplasty  – using my advanced techniques and honed skills…

This is one of those surgeries where the extra care and attention I give to my clients is crucial for discussing expectations, changes and the best technique to accomplish the goal of the Revision Rhinoplasty. To schedule a consultation to get the nose you desire, visit www.davinciplastic.com.

Curvaceous Buttocks Augmentation…

Your Best Butt Now

All this snow and cold weather has lots of people dreaming about the warm summer months. This is actually the perfect time to start thinking about your bikini body too. With all the amazing body enhancing surgeries to give your body the curves you desire, such as liposuction, tummy tuck and breast implants, more and more people are requesting buttock augmentations. Butt augmentation was the fastest growing procedure last year and that trend is expected to continue.

Trend from South America for Your “Southern Regions”…This greater buttocks awareness has come up from South America over the last couple of years, especially Brazil, that has a large cultural appreciation for this part of the body. Celebrities, such as Shakira, J Lo, Nicki Minaj, and the Kardashians have led the way for the plump posterior preference. Popularly called a Brazilian Butt Lift, this procedure can include liposuction, lifting, fat grafting, and implants to create your ideal buttock fullness and shape.

Working with “What Your Momma Gave You”… Which butt augmentation technique we’ll need to use will be determined by your      shutterstock_76782826

  • age,
  • muscle tone
  • skin elasticity
  • available fat you have to transplant
  • existing buttock size and shape

Fat Grafting By the Best… Fat grafting is the ideal way to contour the buttocks because it uses your own living fat cells. The fat cells are liposuctioned from areas such as abdomen or thighs, purified, and then injected expertly to shape and contour the buttocks. The success of this process has much to do with the experience of the surgeon.

Don’t compromise by choosing someone without a high level of training because you could end up with a lumpy, bumpy or saggy butt. For example, I am an expert injector, specially trained and certified to know how much to inject and in what areas to create wonderful, natural looking results.

Implants for that Rounder Rump… For most people I recommend the fat grafting method for butt enhancement, but there are some cases where an implant is the best option. For example, if you’re a size 2 or 4, you probably won’t have enough fat to transplant, therefore an implant can create your curves. Also, if your buttock area is completely flat and sagging, then creating the derriere of your dreams will require a bit more help. Here are the aspects of using implants for building better buttocks:

  1. IMPLANT…A solid silicone implant works best since it cannot rupture, spill, or deflate. Your augmented buttock will still feel natural, but firm… like you’ve been working out.
  2. INCISION… There are a few location options we can decide on together, such as toward the top of the buttocks, the bottom crease, or down the center of the sacrum.
  3. POSITION… Nice results have been attained with both above and below muscle placement, but typically placement within the muscle supports the implant more.
  4. LIFT & LIPO… Lifting sagging skin and liposuction can help create a harmonious effect with the buttock implant for an overall beautifully contoured area.

If you want your best butt now, you need to be in the hands of the best surgeon. I’m triple board certified, a professor and author of hundreds of publications on important plastic surgery subjects, including patient safety.
