BROWLIFT: Traditional, Direct or Coronal, Endoscopic, Biplane

Browlift before and after photos

The perpetual dynamic force of gravity and aging cause the eyebrows and forehead to descend – and excess skin to be pushed into the upper eyelid. The brow appears heavy while the eyes look sad, tired and/or angry.

Men and women today want to look as good as they feel and are waging war against aging with Dr. Davison’s help.  For many people – looking good (more youthful) is career sensitive – while many others just don’t like the heavy brows, thickened, deep creases in between the brows and the sad, tired and angry look they see when looking into a mirror.  A Browlift rejuvenates the upper one-third of the face and is usually done in combination with a Forehead Lift, a Facelift and/or Blepharoplasty surgery to achieve the most satisfying results.  Dr. Davison can help you decide what is best for your needs.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BROWLIFT SURGERY?
Simply stated – if you are a physically healthy man or woman – with mature, realistic goals and expectations, and you don’t like what you see when you look into the mirror – you are probably a good candidate for this surgery.

Your surgeon should invest the time to sit down and talk to you face-to-face during your consultation.  Dr. Davison always listens carefully to each of his patients – every time.

YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH DR. DAVISON:
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical!  It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns.  Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him.  It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.

BROWLIFT SURGERY OVERVIEW:
There are several techniques used for Browlift surgeries and each one offers different benefits – such as the placement and length of incisions – or the amount of “lift” and stability that can be achieved.  Here is a brief look at each one:

1)  Traditional, Direct or Coronal Eyebrow Lifts are the same with interchangeable names.  This is the classic lift involving an incision behind the hairline or just in front of the hairline down through the scalp.  Using this technique, Dr. Davison is able to lift the forehead higher and fix it in a new position.  If a long forehead is involved, an incision in front of the hairline can shorten the brow.

2)  Endoscopic Browlift is performed with an endoscope or light telescope to assist in lifting the brow through small incisions.  These 1 cm long incisions are well hidden in the hair line.  This lift is not right for everyone since it is not as powerful as the traditional lift technique.

3)  Biplane Browlift combines the advantages of the techniques used in the other two lifts when chosen for the right patient.  Some skin excision can shorten the forehead and provide longer term – more powerful results.  The endoscope preserves the muscle while maximizing vision and this decreases numbness.  Dr. Davison embraces technology that increases benefits in a procedure – and he will combine techniques in the Biplane lift to achieve maximum results.

Like Facelifts – not all Browlifts are alike.  It is important that your surgeon understands your anatomy and realistic goals in order to create a treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison is an expert in all surgeries of the head and neck.

QUESTIONS OUR PATIENTS ASK:

Will my Browlift/ForeHead Lift surgery take care of the problems around my mouth and neck areas? No.  It addresses the problems above your eyes only. Dr. Davison can perform a FaceLift to correct problems in the mid-face and lower-face.  A NeckLift deals with the loose skin referred to as “turkey waddle” of the neck and Blepharoplasty (Eyelid) surgery corrects excess skin/fat, sagging etc of the upper and lower eyelids.

Where will my surgery be done?
Surgery is done in an out-patient surgery center, fully equipped, accredited and state-of-the-art.

What anesthesia will be used?
Local anesthesia combined with sedation is used or general anesthesia can be used.

Are the incisions well hidden or clearly visible?
Incisions are well hidden within the hairline for endoscopic surgery. Endoscopic procedures create smaller incisions and require shorter healing time. Other techniques hide incisions as much as possible. Dr. Davison uses techniques that encourage scars to virtually fade and disappear over time.

Will the incisions leave scars?
Yes.  But Dr. Davison minimized the size and visibility of the incisions – so your scars will be well hidden and not even noticeable.

What can I expect to look like after my Browlift surgery?
Swelling, bruising & some numbness are normal but fade quickly because of the advanced techniques Dr. Davison uses. Camouflage, mineral make-up works well to conceal discoloration while it fades.

When will I be able to return to work?
Most of Dr. Davison’s patients are presentable to return to work within 7-10 days and in less time if he performs your surgery endoscopically.  It also depends upon the extensiveness of your surgery and whether you include other procedures or not.

Will I be able to return to normal activity right away?
No.  You will need to avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks – until healing is complete. Bed rest with your head elevated is necessary for 1-2 days. Sleeping with your head elevated for a couple weeks helps minimize swelling and speed healing.

How soon will sutures be removed?
Sutures are typically removed within 1-2 weeks.

Can I drive myself to surgery and back home again?
No.  You will need to have a mature, responsible adult drive you to your surgery appointment, drive you home and stay with you overnight and for a couple days if possible.

Will Insurance Pay for my Browlift Surgery?
Insurance normally does not cover elective cosmetic surgery.  Please check with your insurance company on this.

Is There Any Financing Available for Browlift Surgery?
Yes.  Today there is financing available for cosmetic procedures.  Check in our business office for information about this.
