General anesthesia will be used for your surgery. After you are asleep, Dr. Davison will make a two to three inch incision between the buttocks in the midline. Through this incision the buttock muscle (gluteus maximus) is lifted up and a pocket is made just large enough for the implant. The implant is inserted into the pocket and before being closed, Dr. Davison will carefully examine both implants to assure they look natural and are symmetric. A compression bandage is used to help reduce discomfort and swelling.

Is Buttock Implant Surgery Safe?
Yes if you choose the right surgeon to perform your surgery. Buttock surgery is a difficult operation because of the stress placed on the buttock region during sitting, standing, walking, running and other daily activities. Any buttocks implant is subject to intensive movement every day and the likelihood of the implant shifting is greater. It is most important that the surgeon have the knowledge, skill and experience needed to perform this surgery correctly in order to avoid possible problems. What Is Involved In Recovery Following Buttocks Implant Surgery?
Discomfort, swelling and bruising is normal and to be expected. Within 5-7 days you should be getting up and about, moving, walking and sitting more comfortably. Oral medication is used to manage discomfort as it gradually resolves over several days. Return to full, normal activities varies patient by patient and Dr. Davison will be able to give you a time line during your consultation with him.
How Soon Will I See Results After Buttocks Implant Surgery?
Results are visible immediately but your contour will change over time as swelling resolves. It takes a few months for final results to be fully appreciated.
Are Implants Today Safer Than Old Implants?
Today’s implants are completely safe while also looking and feeling more natural. Once in place, it is not possible to tell the difference between your own body and the implants. Implants are made from silicone that has been in use for decades for other medical needs. Implants are now available in different softness levels.
