NECK LIFT: PLATYSMAPLASTY/CERVICOPLASTY
The neckline is one of the most defining characteristics of a youthful face…
Loose sagging skin, excess fat, vertical bands & horizontal creases – of the neck and jowls - are the most prominent signs of …an aging face.
Dr. Davison recommends a neck lift - to people who are unhappy with the appearance of their neck due to aging or genetics. As we age, neck muscles relax and result in those unwanted vertical bands under the chin. Neck fat tends to descend and pooch out causing that “double chin” look. Sometimes neck liposuction benefits younger people who have good strong muscles and skin elasticity, but more mature patients require a neck lift to correct all these problems. Platysmaplasty (neck lift) deals with the midline neck muscles which cause that “Turkey Waddle”. These muscles are tightened, sewn together and then released through an incision to improve the chin and neck. Cervicoplasty involves neck tightening alone, and Liposuction is an important part of this neck lift procedure. Cervicoplasty is the technique best suited to patients who are just concerned with the double chin or excess neck waddle. Whatever your concerns – Dr. Davison uses today’s safest, most advanced – but reliable – techniques to achieve the results you want.

The best candidate for neck lift surgery includes physically healthy men and women with realistic goals and expectations and who want a more youthful appearance in the neck and chin. This includes dealing with excess fat, sagging skin and jowls.
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical! It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns. Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him. It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.
After you are prepped, sedated and made totally comfortable, Dr. Davison will make tiny incisions under your chin and/or behind the ear, through which he will work to manipulate the platysma muscle and suture it into a new position. Excess fat and skin will be removed and a more youthful definition and contour will be restored. The procedure may include liposuction which involves suctioning excess fat through a cannula (vacuum tube). The excess fat can be treated and transferred (fat transfer) to deep creases and wrinkles to help plump them out. Excess skin is trimmed and the remaining skin is lifted into place and sutured. Small incisions behind the ear allow for this. Sutures close the incisions and a compression bandage is wrapped your head and neck. This must be worn for about 1 week. Your surgery will take from 2-4 hours.
Normal aging, gravity, heredity or weight loss and weight gain all contribute to these unwelcome signs of aging – neck lift Surgery corrects and rejuvenates your neck!
