REVISION FACELIFT

If you’ve had a Facelift but the results were disappointing – or you just want to freshen a Facelift you had years ago – Dr. Davison’s Revision Facelift can erase years from your face and neck to restore a more youthful – natural appearance.

A Revision Facelift is more complex than a traditional Facelift and it requires a surgeon who is highly skilled, experienced in face/neck procedures and has a trained, critical eye. The purpose of a Revision Facelift is to correct a previous Facelift that was disappointing and also to “freshen” a traditional Facelift that is several years old.  Using new, advanced but reliable techniques enables Dr. Davison to deal with previous scar tissue, altered anatomical positions and other problems resulting from the previous surgery. Since this is a more complex surgery it requires maximum training and skill along with experience.  Dr. Davison is a triple board certified plastic surgeon who has had several years more  training and experience than most surgeons.  This has placed him in a unique league among his peers – while ensuring his patients that they can trust their face to this plastic surgeon!

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR REVISION FACELIFT SURGERY?
When you look into the mirror, if you are unhappy with the appearance of your face because of the problems mentioned earlier, you are probably a good candidate for Revision Facelift surgery. Dr. Davison will determine this during your personal consultation. He will also do a complete assessment of your concerns, the condition of your skin, your underlying anatomy, your individual desires and how much aging is evident in your face.  No matter what your age is – Dr. Davison can achieve dramatic results.  He may also recommend a combination of other facial procedures be done at the same time such as Chin/Cheek Augmentation/Fat Transfer, Browlift, Blepharoplasty, for example - in order to achieve the most natural and satisfying outcome based upon your expectations.

There is a great deal of energy and money being spent in today’s advertising to brand certain kinds of Facelift operations – as the latest and greatest -Don’t be fooled!
No single type of operation or treatment is right for everybody.

It is imperative that your surgeon has a deep understanding of how to match the right surgery to your specific needs.  Dr. Davison is an expert in all surgeries of the face and neck – he has performed hundreds of Facelifts – and he performs them regularly!

YOUR INITIAL FACELIFT CONSULTATION WITH DR. DAVISON:
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical!  It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns.  Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him.  It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.

REVISION FACELIFT SURGERY OVERVIEW:
After you are prepped and anesthetized Dr. Davison will mark your face to indicate incision(s) placement and then proceed to make those incisions.  Working through these he will tighten and lift muscles, remove excess skin, remove and/or redistribute and sculpt fat to restore lost volume/fullness, redrape the skin and close the incisions.  You can expect a full head dressing and drain tubes.  Your surgery may take several hours depending upon the extensiveness and individualized procedures you are having done.  Swelling, bruising, numbness and some discomfort are normal and to be expected for 1-2 weeks.

QUESTIONS OUR PATIENTS ASK ABOUT REVISION FACELIFT SURGERY:

Revision Facelift – What is it?
Revision Facelift is a surgical procedure used to address the problems of a previous Facelift Surgery or an older Facelift surgery that you want to have freshened. Dr. Davison – in either case – will use his newer advanced techniques to correct and revise the problems you choose to address.

Why is Revision Facelift Surgery More Complex?
Because there is existing scar tissue which is more difficult to work with, an altered facial anatomy and possibly other problems – the Revision procedure requires more time and expertise than other Facelift surgeries normally require.  Getting it right involves much skill and experience – Dr. Davison has many years of both – more than most surgeons.

Am I a good candidate for a revision Facelift?
If you are in otherwise good health – and you have realistic expectations about dealing with the problems that concern you – you are a good candidate.

Can a revision Facelift deal with other areas of my face?
No. Revision Facelift deals only with the previously operated areas of your face. Dr. Davison’s patients commonly combine other procedures –such as Eyelid surgery, Chin Augmentation etc. to address other areas of concern.

Where will my surgery be performed?
Dr. Davison will perform your Revision Facelift surgery in a state-of-the-art, out-patient surgery center. It is fully accredited and equipped with all the necessary technologies to perform all surgeries and to handle any situation.

What anesthesia is involved?
This will be discussed during your personal, one-on-one consultation with Dr. Davison, but generally local anesthesia combined with IV sedation is used.  General anesthesia is used when needed.

How long will my revision Facelift surgery take?
This varies with each patient since many patients choose to combine other procedures with their Facelift surgery – but plan on several hours.

Will I have scars after my revision Facelift surgery?
Dr. Davison places the incisions in very inconspicuous places such as behind the ear, in the ear, in the hairline and in natural creases of the skin- depending upon which is appropriate for your surgery.  These normally heal as thin thread-like lines that eventually fade away – but are easily camouflaged in the meantime. Dr. Davison will always try to use your previous incisions to minimize any scarring.

Is Revision Facelift surgery painful?
You will experience mild pain and discomfort.  Your discomfort will be easily managed with oral pain medication and goes away over a few days.

What can I expect during recovery?
Swelling, bruising, puffiness, numbness and paleness are all normal and to be expected.    You must keep your head elevated for the first few days to help manage swelling. These issues clear gradually over several days, however some bruising will take 2-3 weeks to resolve.

What can I expect right after surgery?
Bandages will be applied to your head and neck-and then removed the next day.  Dr. Davison will then decide if you need a lighter bandage for a few more days.

When will I be able to return to work?
Typically patients are presentable and able to return to work in about two weeks.

What about exercise and daily activities?
You will need to restrict your activities per instructions we will give you.  You will not be able to perform any strenuous activities until healing is complete-2-3 weeks at least.

Will I Be Able to drive myself to and from surgery?
NO. You must have a responsible adult drive you to the surgical center, drive you home and stay with you overnight and for a couple of days if possible.

Will Insurance pay for my Revision Facelift Surgery?
Insurance does not cover elective/cosmetic procedures – normally.  You need to check with your insurance company about your coverage.

Is financing available today to cover Revision Facelift Surgery?
Yes.  There is financing available today for most cosmetic and surgical procedures.  Check in our business office for information on this.
