WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MACS FACELIFT SURGERY?
When you look into the mirror, if you are unhappy with the appearance of your face because of the problems mentioned earlier, you are probably a good candidate for Facelift surgery. Dr. Davison will determine this during your personal consultation. He will also do a complete assessment of your concerns, the condition of your skin, your underlying anatomy, your individual desires and how much aging is evident in your face.  No matter what your age is – Dr. Davison can achieve dramatic results.  He may also recommend a combination of other facial procedures be done at the same time such as Chin/Cheek Augmentation/Fat Transfer, Eyebrow Lift, Blepharoplasty, for example - in order to achieve the most natural and satisfying outcome based upon your expectations.

There is a great deal of energy and money being spent in today’s advertising to brand certain kinds of Facelift operations – as the latest and greatest -Don’t be fooled!
No single type of operation or treatment is right for everybody.

It is imperative that your surgeon has a deep understanding of how to match the right surgery to your specific needs.  Dr. Davison is an expert in all surgeries of the face and neck – he has performed hundreds of Facelifts – and he performs them regularly!

YOUR INITIAL MACS FACELIFT CONSULTATION WITH DR. DAVISON:
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical!  It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns.  Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him.  It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.

MACS FACELIFT SURGERY OVERVIEW:
After you are prepped and anesthetized, Dr. Davison will make the incision and work through this to lift the skin. Two to three sutures are used in this procedure and are woven into the deep facial tissues in order to suspend the facial features in a vertical – upward manner, restore skin tightness of the upper and middle neck and correct the angle between the jaw and neck.  This deals with the jowls and the nasolabial fold.  Dr. Davison also corrects cheeks that are descended and improves the support of the lower eyelids. This is accomplished by the deep suturing method he has perfected.  Excess skin is also removed where needed.  The incision for MACS is a zig-zag in front of the ears and follows the hairline under the sideburn.  This pattern makes the scar blend naturally with the hairline and it becomes virtually invisible.  This procedure is safer because less skin is raised, so there is less bleeding and bruising – and recovery takes less time.

QUESTIONS OUR PATIENTS ASK ABOUT MACS FACELIFT SURGERY:

MACS Facelift – What is it?
MACS is a surgical procedure used to address the problems of the lower two-thirds of the face including lifting of sagging skin and removing excess fat, correcting jowls and - cheeks that have descended.

Am I a Good Candidate for a MACS Facelift?
If you are in otherwise good health – and you have realistic expectations about dealing with the appearance of a sagging face and neck with moderate excess skin – you are a good candidate.

Can a MACS Facelift deal with other areas of my face?
No.  Facelift deals only with the lower two-thirds of your face. It will not eliminate wrinkles around your mouth or lines and wrinkles in the eye area or forehead. Dr. Davison’s patients combine other procedures –such as Eyelid surgery, Chin Augmentation etc. to address these areas.

Where will my surgery be performed?
Dr. Davison will perform your Facelift surgery in a state-of-the-art, out-patient surgery center. It is fully accredited and equipped with all the necessary technologies to perform all surgeries and to handle any situation.

What anesthesia is involved?
This will be discussed during your personal, one-on-one consultation with Dr. Davison, but generally local anesthesia combined with IVsedation is used.  General anesthesia is used when needed.

How long will my MACS Facelift surgery take?
This varies with each patient since many patients choose to combine other procedures with their MACS surgery – but plan on at least 2 hours.

Will I have scars after my MACS Facelift surgery?
The incision for the MACS procedure is a zig zig placed in front of the ear so it blends in with the hairline. Over time it virtually becomes invisible.  It is a much shorter scar than with other Facelift procedures.

Is MACS Facelift surgery painful?
You will experience mild pain and discomfort.  Your discomfort will be easily managed with oral pain medication and goes away over a few days.

What can I expect during recovery?
Swelling, bruising, puffiness, numbness and paleness are all normal and to be expected.    You must keep your head elevated for the first few days to help manage swelling. These issues clear gradually over several days, however some bruising will take about two weeks to resolve.

What can I expect right after surgery?
Bandages will be applied to your head and neck-and then removed the next day.  Dr. Davison will then decide if you need a lighter bandage for a few more days.

When will I be able to return to work?
Typically patients are presentable and able to return to work in about two weeks.

What about exercise and daily activities?
You will need to restrict your activities per instructions we will give you.  You will not be able to perform any strenuous activities until healing is complete in 2-3 weeks.

Will I Be Able to drive myself to and from surgery?
NO. You must have a responsible adult drive you to the surgical center, drive you home and stay with you overnight and for a couple of days if possible.
