Your surgeon should invest the time to sit down and talk to you face-to-face during your consultation. Dr. Davison always listens carefully to each of his patients – every time.
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical! It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns. Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him. It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.
Dr. Davison uses the most advanced – safest – techniques and technology available today. This includes tumescent and wet techniques that ensure more patient comfort and less blood loss. After you are anesthetized and completely comfortable, Dr. Davison will make the incision(s) and work through these to remove excess fat and to sculpt the area(s) involved. The cannula is a small tube used to loosen the fat and a vacuum attached to the cannula safely suctions it from the pockets and bulges. For small, localized areas such as the face, he may use a syringe to harvest fat for grafting and sculpting. Tumescence is an infusion of sterile saline administered before surgery to plump the fat cells and enable Dr. Davison to distinguish between the fat layer and overlying soft tissue, underlying muscles and organs. The saline is combined with lidocaine, in an appropriate balance, to ensure your comfort during and after the procedure.
QUESTIONS OUR PATIENTS ASK ABOUT LIPOSUCTION:
Where Will My Surgery Be Performed?
Your surgery will be performed in a state-of-the-art surgery center, as an out-patient. This surgery center is certified and fully equipped with the most advanced technologies and is able to handle any out-patient surgery.
Is Liposuction Surgery Painful?
No. Dr. Davison’s technique ensures your comfort throughout the procedure. This is done by an infusion of saline solution with lidocaine before your surgery.
Can Liposuction Surgery Be Done For Weight Loss?
Liposuction is not a solution for weight loss. Dr. Davison performs Liposuction for patients who are near their normal weight and who want to get rid of excess pockets of fat that diet and exercise won’t eliminate.
How Long Will My Liposuction Surgery Take?
It can take as little as 1 hour – but longer if you are combining it with another procedure such as a Necklift, Facelift or Bodylift. Dr. Davison can give you a time frame during your personal consultation before surgery.
What Can I Expect After My Surgery?
Swelling, bruising, numbness, uneven appearance, and sometimes hyperpigmentation are normal and to be expected. Scarring will occur, but Dr. Davison hides the incisions in inconspicuous places – so scars virtually fade and are unnoticeable over time as does hyperpigmentation.
Can I Drive Myself To Surgery and Home Again?
No. You must have a responsible adult drive you on the day of surgery and stay with you overnight.
Will My Insurance Pay For This Surgery?
Insurance normally does not cover cosmetic procedures. However, if it is performed for medically necessary reasons – it may cover. Check with your insurance company.
Is Financing Available For Liposuction Surgery?
Today there is financing for many cosmetic procedures. Ask in our business office about this.
Will I Need To Stay Overnight After Surgery?
In some cases - where the procedure is extensive - it is necessary for patients to remain in the surgery center overnight. Dr. Davison will be able to tell you this in advance. |
