BREAST REDUCTION

Breast Reduction before and after photos

Thousands of women do it every year for significant relief from physical and emotional discomforts. Before breast reduction women endured years of physical pain ranging from neck and back aches to rashes and irritation not to mention the feelings of embarrassment and insecurity about their breasts.

Oversized breasts may be inherited (genetics), age related, caused by hormonal changes, excess weight gain or, they could be from a combination of these reasons. Regardless of the cause, many of Dr. Davisons’ patients decide to have breast reduction for more than appearance reasons.  Do not spend years tolerating neck and/or back pain from breast weight when a simple breast reduction can become to the simple answer. Often, breasts that are too large and heavy cause other health and emotional related problems.  Using advanced – but reliable techniques- has enabled Dr. Davison to help women “downsize” and achieve their realistic goals.  This involves reducing and reshaping your breasts by removing excess tissue and fat before sculpting the breasts into a smaller, more pleasing shape.

After breast reduction, women felt that their emotional and mental health improved dramatically! There was significant relief from physical and emotional discomforts and a “new sense of freedom was gained.”

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST REDUCTION?
Breast Reduction surgery is oriented toward women with large, pendulous breasts since the weight of their breasts may cause chronic pain of the head, neck, back and shoulders as well as circulation and breathing problems.  Rashes and skin irritation is common among women with large breasts along with grooves in the shoulders caused by bra straps. You can have this surgery at any age – but it’s best to wait until your breasts are fully developed, usually around age 20.  If you are an otherwise healthy woman who is concerned about any or all of these problems, and you have realistic expectations, you are probably an ideal candidate.

Your surgeon should invest the time to sit down and talk to you face-to-face during your consultation.  Dr. Davison always listens carefully to each of his patients – every time.

YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH DR. DAVISON:
The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical!  It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns.  Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him.  It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.

BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY OVERVIEW:
Dr. Davison will perform your surgery using general anesthesia.  There are different techniques and incision placements used for this surgery, and the one that’s right for you will be determined during your consultation.  During surgery excess breast tissue, fat and skin is removed and the breast is sculpted to a healthier more comfortable level. The overlying breast skin is also reduced.  Liposuction may be used to assist in fat removal in and around the breast. The nipple may be reduced and repositioned to match the shape, position and proportion of the new breast.
